The Paddlesurf Ireland training weekend for the Club champs will be held at Tramore Strand in Waterford. We will be meeting here at 10.am on both days. There will be a number of surf boats and wave skis for participants to use over the weekend so all you need to bring is your usual paddling. If you have your own surf boat and wave ski please feel free to bring these along. For more details and to register check out this post
The pool will go ahead from 7-8 this Friday (February 21, 2014) but will not be on the following week February 28, 2014 and weeks following will be from 7-8 unless we are informed otherwise. Helmets as always must be worn in the pool and there is no seal launching in.
This is the first of a series of training weekends available to club members under the forthcoming Club Championship on the 12 & 13 April. Most of the training sessions will be taking place in Kilkenny only an hours drive from Dublin. There is no minimum or maximum limit of people so if interested in learning a new skill or improving it in these fun and different kayaks please check out this post http://www.rockhoppers.ie/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=931
Due to the recent blessings of the rain gods we have seen a lot of rain fall over the past couple of weeks. There have also been some very strong winds tearing through the forests. As a result of the wet lands and high winds a number of trees have fallen and many of them into rivers. Please be very careful on your next river trip. Give plenty of space, check blind corners and don’t be afraid to get out and scout the route ahead.
They are here get them while they are hot!!! Collection is available from Mairead on any Sunday trip or if you need it more urgently for a competition we can text you the number.
We the Committee want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. If you happen to get out on the water be sure to wrap up warm and paddle safe!
Its that time of the year again and the AGM is upon us. This year we are setting it for Sunday 1st of September 2013. We will have a leisurely paddle followed by a quick AGM and some foods and drinks. If you can’t make the paddle at least come for the AGM and if not that then the food and drinks are always hard to turn down 🙂 Details to follow in the coming weeks.
The Descent takes place on the 28th of September this year and is expected to be as big as ever. Race entries are now open for all classes of Kayaks and Canoes! Get yours here
Spread the word, it’s that time of year again …… Junior Paddlefest 2013 is being held on 20, 21 & 22 September at Hidden Valley Campsite, Rathdrum Co. Wicklow.
Going on from the response so far, we can expect to smash last year’s figures of over 523 people on the water at one time and a headcount of over 1000 people on site.
Junior Paddlefest is now the largest junior even on the Irish Canoeing calendar and as of last year, it is the largest Junior Paddling event in Europe.
Looking forward to seeing you all there again this year!
